WAIMEA — Hundreds of people braved constant rain Saturday night to watch the unfolding of more than 40 units at the annual Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade.
The parade was enhanced with the judging of the Waimea Street Decoration contest which was judged earlier in the week and the addition of numerous groups offering street food to accomodate spectators who lined Kaumuali‘i Highway from early afternoon.
Special traffic conditions prevailed as the motorcade of floats, walkers and bands made their way from the Waimea Canyon Park parking lot and ending at Hofgaard Park where an entertainment schedule took over.
Sponsored by the West Kauai Business and Professional Association, the lighted Christmas parade has traditionally been held on the Saturday ahead of Christmas.
Decorated street fronts will remain available through the holidays.
