Tonight’s the night — the Festival of Lights go on at 6 for the 20th year! Manu Fonua was busy juggling the lights because the county electricians and Elizabeth Freeman kept saying, “no more lights; we need more lights.”
He was also clearing the fallen branches and palm fronds during the Rice Street farmers market where Bryna Storch of Lanipo Farms (Florence Toyofuku was busy at the Lihue Public Library and Isobel Storch was busy cooking for Wednesday’s Kauai Culinary Market) ran to give beans to the Kauai High School students who were shopping for a cooking class.
Bryna said she remembers doing stuff like that when she was in high school.
Mandy Sugihara (her dad Keith was one of the outdoor volunteer installers) got no help installing the origami angels for the Kauai High School Japanese Club, and Kaylee Braun did good work creating flowers out of plastic soft drink and water bottles.
Rizalyn Ogata made sure she had enough batteries for her accent lights on the mermaid’s undersea cave.
And now, time to check out the Lights on Rice holiday parade!
