Kauai United Way is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations that provide services to the people of Kauai.
The application request is for funding by the Kauai United Way for the period covering July 2017 through June 2018, said Scott Giarman, Kauai United Way executive director.
Potential applicants need to contact Lori Almarza at 245-2043 by Feb. 3 to inform the Kauai United Way of intent to apply.
Following this notification more detailed information on the application process will be issued.
Applicants need to complete an extensive application, describing programs and documenting the ability to follow Kauai United Way criteria.
These include having to have been providing services which are important to the people of Kauai for at least two years, and having an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status for at least two years.
Applicant organizations need to have an active, responsible board of directors who serve without compensation, and must conduct work in a responsible and ethical manner.
The organization must maintain active programs and proper financial records, utilize its funds effectively, and make annual program and financial reports available to the public.
Applicants must seek funding from additional sources as described in the Principles of Admission, and support the Kauai United Way’s annual campaign among its staff and the community.
The organizations must also assist the Kauai United Way annual campaign and special events throughout the year.
They must also work cooperatively with other Kauai United Way participating agencies and meet other requirements deemed necessary for compliance with Kauai United Way policies.
