WAIMEA — Manny Rivera said his daughter, Eliana Brielle Rivera, couldn’t wait.
“She just wanted to come into the world,” Manny said Sunday at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. “Twenty minutes before the cesarean delivery, she arrived.”
Originally scheduled for a Tuesday cesarean delivery, Eliana Brielle Rivera jumped the schedule and was born at 5:31 a.m. Sunday to become the first baby to be born on Kauai in 2017.
Eliana is the second child of Manny and Jessamin Rivera and came into the world at 5 pounds, 0.2 ounces and 18. 5 inches long.
“Our son just made 4 years old, four days ago,” Manny said. “Now, Eliana is here, and it’s all in the holiday season.”
According to the nurses at KVMH, there was at least one other woman in labor on Sunday.
Jessamin said it is definitely going to be busy during the holidays, adding birthdays in addition to the holiday festivities.
“We have to start saving from now,” she said.
