If Gary Pacheco could figure out how to get word out on the North Shore Lions’ golf tournament, Andy of New York (he’s the president of a Lions club back there) would have loved to play. Andy (he loved the Kipu Ranch Adventures cap!) was joined by Princess Pamela (she’s got a fire-and-water oasis back in Henderson, Nev.) in watching Jeff Haigh of Auburn, Calif. (he’s returning the shovels to Dickie Chang) work the sand at Kalapaki Beach for his final Year of the Rooster piece before he leaves.
Kudos to Wyland on doing a great job on the Wyland wall in Waipouli! The place buzzed with excitement over the weekend with Kinohi Naihe bringing out her Miss Hawaii Junior High gear, and even getting Wyland to sign autographs. Mahalo to Eddie Abubo (Saranne Abubo was totally upset that her grandson preferred to go surfing) for the heads-up, and Joel Guy captured the goings-on with his Lumix GH4 (the GH5 is twice as expensive).
Kiana Young of Waimea High School was using a Sony for the live stream of the boys basketball game after spending her entire day at the 9th annual Kauai Regional Science Olympiad, and having to solo the live stream for Miss Joyce Evens.
