“Papa” Joe Grace (yep, he was at the Kauai Veterans Center parking lot) was so busy doing his roast pork he couldn’t make it to check out his granddaughters Dreanalynn Tafiti (she wears the red uniform), and Deirdrelyn Tafiti (she wears the blue uniform) who were playing at the Waimea High School Invitational Softball tournament.
Congratulations to Waimea coach Teddy Perreira who transformed the Hanapepe Stadium to accommodate three games and still kept the Waimea Canyon Park in great shape for the softball tournament taking place with the Waimea Town Celebration!
Jill Faye Papworth was so intent on gathering ti leaves and flowers for the Rotary Club of West Kauai booth (ono pronto pups!), she didn’t even notice Kaina Makua and those Waimea High School teachers (kudos to Shelby Erdmann and Berna Souza!) and students doing work to clear the accumulation of silt and debris on the Waimea River. Office of Hawaiian Affairs Kauai and Niihau Trustee Dan Ahuna did, however, and didn’t even have to think about shedding his T-shirt and jumping in to help the students (the Waimea media students found out there is no signal for the drones that far up the river).
