The 2017 US National Doubles Racquetball Championships were recently held in Phoenix, Arizona.
About 375 players competed, with 20 coming from Hawaii — two from Kauai. Philip Eliana and Steven Kaui, who normally team up, competed with different partners and in different divisions.
Eliana entered three divisions partnering up with his older brother, Ruben Eliana from California, in two divisions and an All Air Force Team buddy, Dean Lavilla who is also from Hawaii but now lives in Idaho, in another division.
Kaui also entered three divisions, partnering up with his younger brother Keith Kaui who also lives in California.
At the end of this five-day event, the Eliana brothers earned a silver and bronze. With Lavilla, Philip Eliana earned a gold medal.
The Kauis earned a silver and bronze medal.
