Leonard S. Morris Sr.
Leonard S. Morris Sr. of Koloa, an Army veteran and retired police sergeant, was born on Feb. 17, 1935, in Port Allen and passed away at his residence on Feb. 1 at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ichiko Morris; parents, Frank S. Morris and Beatrice Souza; and brother, Herbert Morris.
He is survived by his companion Mary Sue Matter; sons, Leonard (Sharon) Morris Jr. of Hilo and Patrick (Danielle) Morris of Omao; daughters, Susan M. (Stephen) Perreira Jr. of Kalaheo and Jean Morris of Hanapepe; grandchildren, Rochelle (Jay) Scribner, Shannon (Collin) Royer, Dylan (Kristy) Morris, Nicole Morris, Stephen Perreira III, Patrick “PJ” Morris, La‘akea Warren and Kawena Warren; great-grandchildren, Austin Scribner, Tatum Scribner, Riley Royer and Teagan Perreira; brothers, Frank (Ruby) Morris of Sacramento, California, and Melvin (Cheryl) Morris of Lawai; and sisters, Sylvia Martin of Lawai and Laverne Bessert of Wailua.
Memorial services will be held the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe on Friday, Feb. 10. Visitation with the family will be at 9 a.m. with services to follow. Military honors will begin at 11 a.m.

Alan Jordan Duarte
Alan Jordan Duarte has served his time here on Earth, and on Feb. 1 our good Lord called him home.
He was a retired grounds maintenance supervisor for Olu Pua Gardens as well as a tour driver for Hawaiian Discovery Tours. He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed fishing at Mahaulepu, hanging out with friends at Salt Pond and cheering for his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Duarte and Beatrice Duarte; and brother, William Duarte Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Charmaine M. Duarte; sons, Brandon Linoz of Kalaheo, Dorian Duarte of Kalaheo and Davin Duarte of Waimea; grandchildren, Kaiyana, Keisha and Kaleb Medeiros and Maia Linoz, all of Koloa, and Maia of Hanamaulu; sister, Mary Walsh of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing for family and close friends will be on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai at 10 a.m. The family requests flowers be omitted, as this is only a viewing.
A celebration of his life will be held on March 11 at Salt Pond Beach Park at 3 p.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

Karen Liu
Karen Liu of Wailua passed away at the age of 63 on Jan. 23 in Honolulu. Born on April 3, 1953, in Lihue and retired as the principal at King Kaumualii Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Katey Liu.
She is survived by her brothers, Alan (Leanne) Liu of Lihue and Randal Liu of Wailua; sister, Phyllis (Craig) Funada of Hilo; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and cousins.
Private services were held.
