OK, it’s time to break open the last box of Girl Scout cookies from last year. Teresa Caires and Girl Scout Troop 823 (they have a lofty goal of selling 3,250 boxes!) hosted a Girl Scout Cookie kick-off for the four new cadets (Skye Schumacher has been a Brownie for just two months and already surpassed her goal), including Madison and Adriana Perreira who were at their first meeting. Teresa said the cookies come in Thursday and booth sales start as early as Friday with her “Cookie Captains and Cookie Rookies.”
Darla Domingo of Kauai Coffee (Fred Cowell and Lindsay MacClean had this fancy virtual-reality gizmo that Steve Soltysik was trying out) didn’t make the American Culinary Federation Breakfast because she was doing the Great Aloha Run (how did she do?) on Oahu. Pat Gegen of Zero Waste Kauai (the Kauai Community College nursing students were monitoring those stations to raise funds, too) said Duane Miyasato is already a master at ordering all the right things for the breakfast, and Joey Tanaka had some of her fancy ceramic work on sale. But where was she?
Congratulations to Thomas and Marites Yano on the grand opening celebration for the Subway sandwiches shop at Hokulei Village (Chantal Zarbaugh said she has to let her daughter Kendra Vega check out the Circle K coffee).
