PUHI — Two meetings this week will share information on a community-driven monitoring program to understand the health and well-being of Haena and its people.
Emily Cadiz will be presenting her master’s thesis, “Pilina — Malama — Aina Momona” at the Kauai Community College Hawaiian Studies Building at 3:30 p.m. on Monday and at the Kekaha School library at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Light pupus will be served during the presentations, which addresses the role of relationships in building capacity for community-driven monitoring programs, how those monitoring approaches help to better understand natural trends, cycles and productivity of Haena’s coastline, and what can be learned from the process of establishing such a program.
