Home Depot is planning to provide tens of thousands of jobs in the coming weeks.
More than 80,000 jobs are hoped to be filled by spring time, according to a news release. Home Depot is planning on hiring positions anywhere from cashiers to freight handlers to customer service.
“We want everyone to have an easy and convenient experience with The Home Depot, whether they’re shopping with us or applying for a position,” Tim Crow, the retailer’s executive vice president, human resources, said in a statement.
There is a Home Depot in Lihue that is popular for its products, services and location.
To make applying for a position at Home Depot as easy as possible, the company announced that it will reduce the size of the application and enable potential employees the opportunity to apply on mobile devices and tablets.
Part-time, seasonal and permanent jobs will be available for those who apply. This recent surge for more workers comes after the company announcing last month that they wanted to hire more than 1,700 full-time workers by October.
Home Depot’s hiring binge, as stated in the release, comes in direct contrast to other retailers who have slashed positions. According to the release, American Apparel said in January that it would be cutting 2,400 jobs. Additionally, Macy’s previous and pending closures of dozens of locations will result in the loss of over 10,000 positions.
The release also indicated that there are opportunities for seasonal workers who are hired this spring to remain on staff and be offered a part-time or full-time position. Home Depot said that they typically hire half of its seasonal hires to stay on permanently.
