LIHUE — Seven people have been arrested in recent weeks related to thefts and break-ins across the island.
“Our detectives and patrol officers are committed to apprehending those responsible for crimes that are occurring across our island,” said Darryl Perry, Kauai police chief. “We are pleased with the recent arrests but know there are others who need to be held accountable for their actions, and we look forward to the continued partnership with our community to locate suspects.”
The most recent arrest occurred on March 20, when Kaz Alcos, a 28-year-old Lihue man, was arrested for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in the Kapaa area.
Alika Say was arrested on Feb. 21 on an arrest warrant. The Kilauea man, 19, is also suspected of attempting to burglarize two Kapaa businesses.
Devin Glaze, 21, of Kapaa, was arrested on Feb. 10 on suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card and second-degree forgery. These crimes were committed in the Lihue area.
Two people were arrested on Feb. 9 for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in separate incidents. Ezekial Bagano, a 19-year-old Kapaa man, is suspected of stealing a car in the Kapaa area, which was later recovered.
Louis Walthers is suspected of stealing an ATV in Waimea, which was later located and returned to the owner. The 58-year-old Hanapepe man was also picked up for third-degree theft. He has since been extradited to California on unrelated charges.
On Feb. 7, 36-year-old Savan Tuazon, of Anahola, was arrested for multiple counts related to ID and credit card theft, fraud, and forgery.
Police also arrested Egon Kalama Silva Jr. on February 4. Silva Jr. is also accused of stealing an ATV in the Waimea area, which has not yet been located.
KPD is working with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in their ongoing investigation of these crimes.
Police urge residents and visitors to be vigilant, and report suspicious or illegal activity immediately.
