WAILUA — Police have identified the body that was found Sunday near Ka’apoko Tunnels Trail.
Fiona Choi, of Lihue, was attempting to cross the stream along the trail with a group of people when she slipped and fell and was swept away.
The 26-year-old managed to grab onto a rock downstream, but when the group hiked to the spot, she was no longer thereAfter searching for her proved unsuccessful, the group hiked out and called for help at approximately 5:35 p.m.
On Saturday, R-3 aboard Air-1 searched for Choi upstream and downstream,and ended their search at around 7:35 p.m.
Aerial search operations resumed at 6 a.m. Sunday morning with R-3 following the trail in Air-1, searching up and down the river.
Choi’s body was found at approximately 7:04 a.m. in the Wailua Stream.
