LIHUE — The state’s oldest and biggest student video competition is back for its 14th edition.
The 14th Annual Olelo Youth Xchange Statewide Student Video Competition, presented by Sony, will take place April 27 at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The competition announced its 2017 finalists, featuring nine submissions from Kauai. The finalists were chosen from over 900 entries from 89 public, charter and private schools all across Oahu, Hawaii Island, Kauai and Maui counties.
Judges selected finalists based on subject impact and technical production. High-definition Sony digital video cameras will be awarded to the winning schools in each of the divisional categories at the Awards Gala.
Five finalists from the Garden Isle will be representing Kauai High School while the other four finalists are from Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School.
The awards can be seen on Channel 55 on at 10:30 a.m., April 27, and will be streamed live at www.olelo/55.
