The third annual Roots ‘n Shoots Fun Run is set for 8 a.m. Saturday at the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
The 5k course winds through a spectacular setting of rainforest trees, a grove of swaying golden bamboo, tropical fruit trees, over a foot bridge and alongside the Lawai Stream.
After the run, there will be a complimentary snack, coffee and a silent auction benefiting the Kauai Marathon Youth Running Program and other nonprofits.
Shuttles depart from the South Shore Visitors Center from 6 to 7:30 a.m. to McBryde Garden.
Registration is $50 and $40 for students. Sign up the day of the race, cash only.
