Traning ‘Trinidad’ Fernandez
Traning “Trinidad” Fernandez of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on Feb. 24, at the age of 91. She was born in Lihue on Nov. 11, 1925, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gregorio Fernandez, sons Julian Fernandez and Colan Fernandez Sr., daughter Victoria Maghanoy, grandchildren Colan Fernandez Jr., Perry Keough and Cleavon Fernandez, parents Andres and Victoria Tomacder, brothers Dado Tomacder and Ricarte Tumacder, and sisters Remi Aquino and Maria Amorin.
She is survived by sons Melvin (Marilyn) Fernandez, Anthony (Alicia) Fernandez and Colin (Laurie) Fernandez, daughters Norma Fernandez, Esmenia (Franklin) Hiraoka Sr. and Peggy (Scott) Keough, 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 8, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Fernandez family with arrangements.
Bonifacio Javier
Bonifacio Javier of Koloa passed away at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Feb. 25, at the age of 63. He was born in Koloa on Dec. 7, 1954.
He was preceded in death by his parents Seraphine Javier and Margaret Javier, wife Diana Javier and sisters Euprecian Soucy and Loretta Javier.
He is survived by his daughters Melinda Sukehira, Andrea Arruda, Natasha Arruda and Nicole Arruda, son Neil Javier, brothers Ernest (Addie) Javier, Ronald (Pam) Javier, Seraphine Javier and Benjamin Javier, sisters Josephine (Harry) Lee and Bernadette Javier, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Bernard Leandro Simao
Bernard Leandro Simao of Kalaheo died on March 18, at the age of 80.
Born on Dec. 21, 1936, on Kauai, he was a supervisor with Kauai Island Utility Cooperative.
He was preceded in death by parents Philemen and Maria Simao, brothers Manuel, Frank and Daniel, sisters Margaret Reis, Marianne Baptiste and Madeline Aguiar, and daughter Lisa Simao.
He is survived by wife Mary Jane Simao of Kalaheo, daughters, Lori (Melvin “Brodie”) Medeiros of Lihue and Lani (Tai) Fetu of Oahu, sisters Dorothy Costa, Beatrice Silva and Bernice Pereira, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 8, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
