Spa day proceeds to March of Dimes

LIHUE — The Specific Chiropractic Center in Lihue is supporting moms and babies this spring by donating all the proceeds from two spa day fundraisers to the March of Dimes.

It’s one of dozens of organizations and individuals on the island who are putting money and energy toward the March of Dimes, and holding fundraisers that donate 100 percent of proceeds to the organization.

Kauai’s March for Babies event is set for Saturday.

The Specific Chiropractic Center is using its HarMOMMY community program to fundraise, and organizers hope to donate $2,000 toward the March of Dimes, which works to prevent birth defects, infant mortality and premature birth.

The first spa day was in March. The next event will be April 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Space is limited to nine people. Cost is $100 per person.

“March of Dimes is all about trying to support every child to have the opportunity to have a full life,” said Addison Bulosan, owner and operator of The Specific Chiropractic Center.

Specific chiropractic care focuses on nerves and their interaction with the brain and the body, with the ultimate goal of removing nerve irritation and pain.

Supporting children and their mothers is a major focus of The Specific Chiropractic Center as well, said Kaci Manion, upper cervical specific chiropractor at the center.

The spa day is an evening focused on moms. It’s a time for relaxation; attendees cycle through a 30-minute massage, a 30-minute facial and a 30-minute guided meditation.

“We keep it a small group because we have these three things that we’re doing,” Manion said.

Saturday’s March for Babies event will be a 3-mile walk around Lydgate Park. Registration is at 6:45 a.m. and the walk starts at 8 a.m.
