The opening day of the Island Movers Track & Field Championships state meet was Friday at Keaau High School on the Big Island.
The two-day meet will conclude today.
Island School’s Kilikai Ahuna had the best time in the boys 300-meter hurdles preliminaries with 40.38 seconds to qualify for the finals. Punahou School’s Lucas Milne trails Ahuna with a time of 41.84.
Kauai High’s Kane Casillas and Kapaa’s Garret Smith both qualified for the boys 1,500-meter run final. Casillas finished with the fourth-best time with 4 minutes, 19.97 seconds, and Smith was 12th with 4 minutes, 22.40 seconds. Avery Torres of Kalaheo High School of Oahu led with a time of 4:17.92.
