KAPAA — A community meeting on “How to help someone who is addicted to alcohol and drugs” is scheduled 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 at Kapaa Missionary Church.
“Our goal and hope is to come together in unity to serve one of our most vulnerable populations here on the island of Kauai,” according to a press release.
Brian Kohatsu, chair of the mayor’s advisory committee for treatment and community integration, will be sharing information, resources and support.
Kohatsu wrote that the meeting aims to support those “struggling to find peace and hope in the face of an addicted family member or friend.”
Pastor Jed Young of Kapaa Missionary Church is encouraging pastors to participate.
“I know that many in our congregations suffer in silence, oftentimes not knowing what to do,” Young said.
