KALAHEO — The Hotshots’ Lindcey Constantino exploded for 14 points in the final 16-minute quadrant to pull the Hotshots ahead of the Lihue Lakers and claim a 33-18 win Tuesday night during the Extreme Termite basketball games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
After being deadlocked through the first two periods, the Hotshots turned to Constantino in the third period, the quick guard getting five of the team’s seven points to pull ahead of the Lakers while defensively getting some key blocks.
Constantino finished with a game-high 19 points, getting help fro Christoffer Alicante who dropped in eight points, six coming in the explosive final period. Rhenz Punzalon and Javin Moises each contributed pairs in the win.
The Lakers turned to Bryan Brown to stay close. However, the quick defense held Brown to eight points, including a three-ball in the final period where he scored six of his game-total eight points. Bryden Kawakami and Cyrus La‘akea Correa each added four points, while Dylan Watanabe was held to just a pair.
Earlier in the night, the Dream Team dug into its bucket of talent to break an 11-11 halftime deadlock to surge past the Kauai Lynx, 21-17, in the final period.
Lele Gonzalez led the win on seven points, including a three-ball in the second quarter, getting help from low post Olivia Malafu who finished with six points. Lilinoe Ka‘aihue-Paopao, Kenzie Ka‘aihue-Paopao, Keilani Pia-Salvador and Taeani Lagusa each contributed a pair.
The Lynx was held to just two players scoring: Denise Alfonso netting 15 points and Taira Samiano-Oliveira finishing with three marks.
Skylyn Fagarang of the A‘o Uka Rebels had a big task of trying to contain the Westside A’s Tavina Harris in the final match of the night.
Harris dominated the inside on height advantage, but the Rebels persevered against the presence, finishing with a 22-11 victory led by Fagarang dropping 10 points and Sophia Badua adding five marks.
Harris netted seven points to lead the Westside A effort.
The Extreme Termite league nears the end of its season with a pair of wahine matches Monday and a playoff game for the Boys Grades 5 to 8 division starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
