Trina Scott Collins
Trina Scott Collins of Kekaha passed away on May 23, 2017, at the age of 62. She was born on March 18, 1955.
She was preceded in death by father Thomas Collins and son Nico Collins-Reeves.
She is survived by mother Linda Faye Collins, daughter Mataia (David) Carter, sisters Michelle (Les) Collins-Greene and Kathryn (Greg) Collins Novak, brother Thomas Collins and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held for all those who have known and loved her at Waimea Plantation Cottages manager’s house at noon on Sunday June 4.
Jaime B. Basquez
Jaime B. Basquez of Koloa passed away on May 22, 2017, at the age of 89.
Born on Feb. 25, 1928 in Makaweli, he was a retired crash fire captain at Lihue Airport.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rufino and Maura Vasquez, wife Apolonia Basquez and brothers Jesus and Querino Vasquez.
He is survived by wife Georgette Basquez, brother David (Lita) Vasquez, daughters Marlene (Stuart) McAtee, Jessie Basquez, sons Gerald “Shane” (Lorna) Basquez, Zane (Sunday-Lee) Basquez, brother David (Leticia “Letty”) Vasquez, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, June 7, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, with the service at 9 a.m. and a gathering to follow at the cemetery pavilion.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa.
Sarah O. Nakamura
Sarah O. Nakamura of Kapaa passed away on May 30, 2017, at her home at the age of 87. She was born on Nov. 25, 1929, in Kapaa, and was a proprietor of many businesses.
She was preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Alice Ohai, and husband Torao Nakamura.
She is survived by son Creighton (Karen) Nakamura, daughters Lannice (Ken) Manguchei, Mapuana (John) Hoopii and Mamo Nakamura, sisters Evelyn Fernandes and Alicia Tanigawa, brothers Leo Ohai, Reynolds Ohai, Benjamin, Reuben and Daynes Ohai, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Kapaa Ward, with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe, with a luncheon to follow at the cemetery pavilion.
