POIPU — Four fashion pop up islands sprouted on the grounds of The Shops at Kukuiula as the hour for its monthly Art Walk neared Saturday night.
“Father’s Day is Sunday, and we thought having ideas for fathers would be a nice addition to Art Walk,” said Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, the shopping center’s real estate manager. “We are fortunate to have Focus models and Focus International Hawaii help us coordinate the Summertime Fashion Show on four stages.”
Recent college graduate Kim McDonough joined the excitement after discovering her gig in Koloa ended early enough for her to become part of the fashion pop up.
“We just got the talent for our fourth stage,” McFerrin-Warrack said. “Kim has performed her before, and we are lucky she was already in Koloa and finished her engagement in time for our event.”
Art Night where Aaron Feinberg of Feinberg Gallery celebrated the revealing of new images for 2017 lent its excitement to the music and roving band of 17 models who was joined by designer/model Chanterelle Chantara of Chez Chanterelle.
“Chanterelle is lending her talent as a model,” MeFerrin-Warrack said. “Her line is carried by one of the shopping center’s merchants. She’ll be joining Kim who accompanied her presentation last week at the Kauai Fashion Weekend.”
Swan Elliott, owner of Focus International Hawaii, was joined by Ivy Antolin and Reggie Trusel in coordinating the models with offerings from 14 of the shopping center’s merchants.
“Parker Rawlinson was voted top male model of the year for Canada,” Elliott said, adding she flew in from the Big Island to coordinate the event. “He came to Hawaii for this event, and was able to be at the Kauai Fashion Weekend as well, where he was both photographer and model.”
Other special celebrity models included Lexi Freeman who has a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover in her portfolio, and Candace Liang, Miss Aloha State 2016 from Honolulu.
Father’s Day will continue to be celebrated this week when a special craft creation section will be part of the Kauai Culinary Market from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Palm Court.
The Cirque Family Circus of Hawaii will perform on Father’s Day with juggling feats, unicycle tricks and clowning fun for families and dads on Sunday from 4 p.m.
