LIHUE — Four new businesses, three restaurants and a retail store are coming to Hokulei Village shopping center, said Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, Hokulei Village local property manager.
Verde Restaurant could be opening as early as next month, McFerrin-Warrack said Thursday at the Verizon Kauai Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at the Hokulei Village.
Kristen Yanagawa, more recently at Tapa’s in The Shops at Kukuiula, will be the executive chef at the Hokulei location, said Jessica Kerber of Verde Restaurant.
“I just brought some chips and salsa to meet the people,” Kerber said. “Kristen will be in charge when we open. Construction is under way. Once it’s done, we’re open.”
Orly Yadao, owner of Orly’s Patisserie, brought over samplings of macaroons in Oreo mint, strawberry and lilikoi to tease the tastebuds of the more than 150 people who signed up for the Business After Hours.
After years of working for the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, and more recently, The Club at Kukuiula, Yadao plans on opening some time in the fall.
McFerrin-Warrack said construction has started in one of the big corner restaurant locations for Domino’s, which plans on having a family food and beverage center in the location by the end of the year.
Construction of Bedmart is also under way, with the store expected to open before the end of the year.
