WASHINGTON — Five businesses from Kauai are at Hawaii on the Hill.
The Washington, D.C., event kicked off Tuesday and representatives from Kauai Coffee Company, Kauai Kookie Company, Koloa Rum, Lappert’s Hawaii, Salty Wahine Gourmet Hawaiian Sea Salts attended the event.
People from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai Chamber of Commerce, the County of Kauai the Hawaii state Senate were in attendance.
The two-day gathering was organized by Sen. Mazie Hirono and the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce in an effort to showcase the Aloha State’s businesses and industries to policymakers on Capitol Hill. “
“Every year, more and more Hawaii businesses come to Hawaii on the Hill because they make connections that are meaningful,” Hirono said. “It’s more important than ever that Hawaii businesses connect directly with policy makers, and I look forward to continuing to work with Sherry and the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii team, who are instrumental in making Hawaii on the Hill possible.”
More than 70 Hawaii businesses, specializing in services from technology and transportation to agriculture, participated in Hawaii on the Hill, which included policy summit and the Taste of Hawaii on Capitol Hill.
“This week has been a great opportunity for companies to showcase our state’s pride, melting pot cuisine, customs, industries and ideas,” said Sherry Menor-McNamara, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii President & CEO. “Taste of Hawaii on Capitol Hill especially allows our state’s companies a chance to meet Congressional leaders and industry representatives to learn about resources that are available to help them grow their businesses and discuss how our industries play a major role in our nation’s economy.”
