LIHUE — Peter Rayno, coach for the Hanamaulu Hillsiders, spent time stringing up colorful seeds to give away, and for prizes Friday at the kachi kachi dance fundraiser for the senior softball team.
“We used the real fruit from the Philippines,” said Pauline Ibia. “This is lechon style roast pork and they use this fruit that looks like dragonfruit from the Philippines.”
Roast pork, chicken hekka, and roast chicken headlined the dinner menu that was part of the night of Puerto Rican style music and dancing, punctuated by generous drawings for prizes, many provided by the softball team members and community businesses.
