LIHUE — The goal of the Kauai Credit Union’s sixth annual Kauai Independent Food Bank drive is to raise funds to help feed keiki, said Terri Kaniho, marketing specialist for the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union.
“Our goal is to raise $15,000 which will go toward the KIFB Keiki Cafe program,” Kaniho said. “KIFB distributes more than 166,000 healthy snacks to schools, and the Boys & Girls Club’s after school programs. Snacks are provided every day of the week to 10 different Kauai locations at a cost of more than $75,000 to the food bank.”
The drive will start June 26 and run through July 14 — “15 in 15.”
Food and monetary contributions are being accepted at participating credit unions, including the Garden Island Federal Credit Union, the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, the Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union, the Kauai Teachers Federal Credit Union, the Kekaha Federal Credit Union, and the McBryde Federal Credit Union.
Contributors do not have to be a member of the credit union to participate.
“Our keiki are counting on us to nourish them,” Kaniho said.
