Mahalo to University of Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich and his staff on doing a great football clinic for Kauai’s aspiring football players. He got the royal treatment from all the people like Billy DeCosta, who was going to take him hunting, Tommy Rita, who just got back from a Florida trip, and Freddy Levinthol (those octopus thingies work!). Dickie Chang even got him a puka shell necklace.
Kudos to Mark Oyama, Liz Hahn (she even brought two nice bettas for prize giveaways) and all Na Koa supporters (Coach Dick Ueoka came early so he wouldn’t get lost) on a great Meet the Coach.
The aloha isn’t limited to UH, though. Aletha Thomas may not have the bus stopping by Monkeypod Jam for Tropic Care Kauai, but Fred Cowell and the Kauai Coffee ohana brought two (not one) containers of coffee to the Eleele clinic (Carley Dolan didn’t know Santa needed new glasses) site, and Maj. April Perrimon-Miles (the operations center is getting full of food from grateful patients too) said they do the “aloha” cheer each day during briefing.
Happy Father’s Day, Kauai — there’s still time (starts at 10:30 a.m.) to make the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Father’s Day Keiki Fishing Tournament (catch and release) for anglers 3 to 13 years old who get a Yacht Dawg and drink for entering. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see Commodore Fred Styer.
