Five basketball teams from Alaska will be joining the Kauai Hoops Classic, which will run June 22-25 at sites around the island.
“The Alaska teams are excited about coming back,” said Kauai Lynx coach Clarence Sales, the tournament director. “We will have a lot of basketball taking place with about 50 teams participating.”
Kauai will have teams participating in the tournament that will also feature squads from around the state. Players are from seventh through 12th grades.
“With so many teams participating, we’ll have games at four sites — Bernice Hundley Gym on the Kapaa High School campus, the Kauai High School gym, the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, and at the Wilcox Gymnasium at Island School,” Sales said.
Games at the Bernice Hundley and Kauai High School gym will start at 1 p.m. on June 22, 10 a.m. on June 23 and from 9 a.m. on June 24-25.
