HAENA — The repairs to the Haena Beach Park parking lot were completed Thursday, and the parking lot is now completely open.

County personnel finished the work earlier than anticipated due to the beautiful weather.

The popular parking lot, used by those going to Tunnels Beach, has been in disrepair and hazardous for low-riding cars, marked by numerous large potholes. Locals tried to lessen the severity of those potholes by filling them with coconut shells, which helped, but the potholes continued to grow and multiply.
