KALAHEO — Kaulupono’s Liana Hasegawa finished with a game-high eight points Saturday during the four games contested in the summer youth basketball games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
However, Hasegawa’s eight points in the girls sixth-grade division could not overcome the three-point deficit taken by the Kauai Lynx, which took a 19-16 edge at the buzzer, led by seven points scored by Kade Parubrub.
The Lihue Lakers, playing three games, dropped all of them.
Lindcey Constantino and Kaina Hasegawa lit the baskets with 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Supersonics to a 40-7 win over the Lakers Gold, which got three players netting pairs in its seven-point total during the boys sixth-grade division matchup.
During the boys fifth-grade division contest, Joshua Rego led the Kauai Thunder with 12 points in the Thunder’s 39-6 win over the Lihue Lakers, who got four points from Dylan Watanabe.
The Lakers’ third loss came in the final boys sixth-grade division match, where Syrus Delos Reyes led the Team Lihue Warriors with 21 points in a 54-32 win over the Lakers Purple.
Sage Cua and Connor Kitamura topped the Lakers Purple effort on 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Three games are on tap today at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at 6 p.m.
Tamba opens the doors in an eighth-grade boys division match against Isle Hoops in the 6 p.m. tipoff, followed by the A‘o uka Rebels playing its eighth-grade division and sixth-grade division squads.
At 7 p.m., the Rebels’ eighth-grade girls tip off against the Kauai Ballers, followed by the sixth-grade Rebels going up against Dream Team in the 8 p.m. match.
