Niely shared a table with Christine Gannage of Ku‘uipo Kreations (Dickie Chang gotta check out her puka shell “kreations”) at the latest edition of Friday Night Art in Hanapepe where Mark Jeffers and Evelyn Roth inflated their latest creation — a 40-foot tiger shark — for the first time outdoors.
Ada Koene (she’s still working on the Koloa Plantation Days book) was checking out the action with Helen Lacono’s crew from across the street, and Josh Fukino (gotta check out his Tuesday poi-making at Kauai Community College) had his Kava Lounge going. Cami Matsumoto was quietly listening to Josh explain tumeric to all the visitors, and down the street, Jean Souza was having dinner at the Japanese Grandma (ever see a shrimp tempura musubi?) inside the Blu Umi.
Sara Funtanilla was able to get her whole family to take the walk (yep, there’s the path coming down from Eleele School) to enjoy the hot summer night, and Chef Carla Dusenberry (she’s getting ready for the Hanapepe Soto Zenshuji bon dance) was already sold out of her Super Laulau.
