KAPAA — Operation Christmas Child, hosted by Breath of Life ministries, is a year-round event, said Charlette Souza, OCC central drop-off team leader, Sunday at Kapaa Beach Park.
“We start planning from the day the last shoe box leaves,” Souza said. “We welcome donations of new small toys (usually ones that fit in shoe boxes) throughout the year and, once a month, usually the third Saturday, we host craft ministries to make items which will be packed during our November packing party.”
Operation Christmas Child was a vendor raising funds for its annual crusade at the water park event where hundreds of keiki and their families beat the summer heat by enjoying the collection of inflatables from Garden Angels. Garden Angels moves some of its inflatable features to the North Vidinha fields for the Kauai Hospice Concert in the Sky “friendraiser” today.
Souza said the goal of Operation Christmas Child for this year is to pack more than 3,000 shoe boxes filled with small toys, school supplies and other items which will make some child’s Christmas a little brighter somewhere in the world.
“Donations can be dropped off at the Breath of Life ministries in the Rice Shopping Center,” Souza said. “If anyone wants to support Operation Christmas Child and cannot afford to, we do welcome prayers. Operation Christmas Child starts and ends with prayer.”
