HANAPEPE — Meteorologist Gregory Hall of the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Weather Service, Lihue Office, will conduct a free 2 1/2-hour training on extreme weather today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hanapepe Public Library meeting room.
“Advanced Skywarn Spotter Training” is open to the public with no pre-requisites, and no need for pre-registration.
During the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to learn about being a Skywarn weather spotter, National Weather Service volunteers who provide local reports to the NWS during extreme weather events that supplement or validate radar and satellite images. Joining the program is optional.
Hall has led the NOAA NWS Lihue Office for 12 years, and served more than two decades as a meteorologist with the U.S. Air Force.
The presentation is co-sponsored by the Hanapepe Public Library.
