Welcome to Kauai, Sgt. Josh Revak and SFC Robert McCoy and their families! The Wounded Warriors arrived to a welcome from local veterans dignitaries (Gen. Mary Hertog even made it to the Kauai Police Department graduation on time) and Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. (was nice to see Public Information Officer Kim Tamaoka working hard as usual) who announced to the terminal filled with people (including Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Dennis Brown who came along with Kaulana Finn) that it was Josh Revak Day.
Kudos to Alexander Lacson Jr. on the great “Hawaii Five-O” rendition on trumpet that opened the graduation to the 88th Police Recruit Class! Capt. Mark Ozaki said in addition to that solo piece, Alexander does Reveille for the raising of the flag every morning, and performed during several KPD events, including Chaplain and Deacon Tom Contrades’ funeral.
More kudos to Jim and Joyce Miranda and the CJM Country Stables crew on that rodeo which launched this year’s Koloa Plantation Days festivities! Mahalo to Kawaihau and Annie Torio for bringing Po‘okela Sausage Co. (how many of you realized Wednesday was National Hot Dog Day?) outside of the North Shore, and Stephanie Barnum still has a limited supply of 2016 rodeo shirts available.
OK, time to go see what other niceties are in store at Koloa Plantation Days.
