HANAMAULU — The Community Coalition Kauai will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at King Kaumualii Elementary School on the county’s General Plan update.
“The recent General Plan update process has shown us that the government leadership on Kauai is only interested in the welfare of large landowners, corporate developers and the tourism industry — not the future of the residents of Kauai,” according to a press release. “It is up to us in the communities to lead!”
The release said groups with specific interests in land use, conservation, infrastructure and housing are speaking up about respective needs and wishes.
CCK says it is “committed to keeping our beloved Kauai the beautiful island that it has been, by taking a forward-thinking approach to managing our growth and visitor industry.”
The public is welcome.
Community activists and leaders are asked to bring their ideas “for an evening of sharing and preparation for the next step in Kauai’s future,” the release said.
