Congratulations to Sherri Sanchez Newcomb and all those Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club people who hosted the 2017 edition of craft and hula tribute and free (!!!) performances by our great hula halau like Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina‘ala, which finished third in the recent Queen Lili‘uokalani Keiki Hula festival and got the Master Kane hula honor!
Sherri said proceeds from the event went to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network, and all of the free “classes (Rachel Tan had three generations doing lei; Miranda even turned hers into lei po‘o)” were pretty full. Hope that ohana from Wyoming got a chance to hear the tale of puka opihi.
Congratulations to Mark Tanaka, Sherman Shiraishi, Clinton Shiraishi and all those connected with the grand opening (would’ve been better than sitting in that westbound Puhi traffic) of Kauai Realty and Shiraishi Law Firm located next to Ohana Motors and across from the Costco gas station!
More congratulations to Josh Uyehara, County Councilmember Arthur Brun (he was like a nervous host making sure all the food was “just right”), and all the family at Hartung Brothers (Arthur says there are a lot of them, and sisters, too) Hawaii, Kekaha Farm, who celebrated its open house Friday (Anna Baudouin — you gotta check out her fire dancer — made it after that sold-out Kauai Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours bash at the National Tropical Botanical Garden).
