Shyden Likeke Kaniala Kaneholani-Ponte
Shyden Likeke Kaniala Kaneholani-Ponte of Wailua Houselots passed away from his battle with cancer at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children on July 18, 2017, at the age of 9. He was born in Lihue on Feb. 13, 2008, and was a student at Wilcox Elementary School.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Alfred and Evelyn Reis and Herbert and Elizabeth Kaneholani.
He is survived by parents Bryon Ponte and Shy Kaneholani-Ponte, sisters Brittney, Bryanna and Bryancie, brothers Shane and Shaisten, grandparents Fred and Sharon Ponte and Daniel Kaneholani and Evangeline Reis, and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Anahola Beach Park (Hawaiian Homes side), with viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
George Panaewa Koani
George Panaewa Koani, 80, of Waimea, passed away on Aug. 2, 2017, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 22, 1937, in Waimea. He was an electrician and a member of the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by brothers Henry Kuana Koani, Charles K. Koani, Nathaniel Koani and Moses Koani, sister Rebecca Mikala Kekahu and parents Waiwaiole Koani and Katie Kamai.
He is survived by brother David Kapu Koani of Pearl City Oahu, nieces Rowena Smith of Anahola, Rhoda Simeona of Hilo, Malina Koani of California and Napua Koani, nephew Bully Koani of Oahu, and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, Aug. 14, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery, with visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. and services from 10 to 11 a.m.
Refreshments will be served after the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the committal shelter.
The family requests casual attire and that monetary gifts and flowers be omitted.
Violet H. Goto
Violet H. Goto of Haena passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 6, 2017, at the age of 86. She was born in Haena on Jan. 13, 1931, and was employed for many years at Hanalei Plantation.
She was preceded in death by husband Jose Goto, parents Joseph and Dora Hashimoto, and brothers Jack, George and Joe Jr. Hashimoto.
She is survived by brother Thomas (Annie) Hashimoto of Kilauea, niece Lei Romas, grandnieces Lori (Danny) Alapai and Lisa (Dwight) Akita Jr., great-grandnephew Teivyn Akita, great-grandniece Taeley Akita, sister-in-law Wanda Hashimoto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at Waioli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei, with visitation from 9 to 10:15 a.m., and services celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m.

Donald Edward Kubisch
Donald Edward Kubisch, 71, passed away June 29, 2017, at Wilcox Medical Center. Born Aug. 20, 1946, in Chicago, he was the retired owner of the House of Seafood.
He was preceded in death by parents Edward and Ella Kubisch and brother Edward Kubisch.
He is survived by wife Georgia M. Alcos Kubisch, sons Donald (Amy) Kubisch and Brad Kubisch, daughters Suzette (Don) Graycochea and Tiffany (Kana) Keale, stepson Allen “Ili” Young, grandsons Koali‘i, Hekili, La‘a Kea, Ke‘alohi, Moewa‘a, Ne‘oeu, Pekelo Graycochea, Leland Keale III and Zion Chandler-Kubisch, and granddaughters Daelynn and Karlee-Rose Keale.
All are invited to the celebration of life Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Hanamaulu Beach Park. The famil suggests casual attire.
Tiffani Ann Lizama
Tiffani Ann Lizama, 51, of Kilauea, passed away on July 26, 2017 at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 26, 1965, in New Jersey, she was a market manager.
She is survived by her husband Alan J. Lizama, son Corey Sugai, daughter Shealyn Sugai, stepdaughter Alexandra Lizama, parents John and Deanna Solek, brother John Solek, sister Tori (Steven) Clemmons, two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary chapel in Koloa, where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.
