Sean Patrick Moody
July 10, 1964 – April 14, 2017
It is with great sadness our family shares the loss of our beloved Sean; son, brother, cousin, uncle, great-uncle and dear friend. Sean’s dedication and love for his family was matched only by how very much we adored him and his abiding devotion to his late wife and best friend, Marilyn.
Kauai was Sean’s home for 27 years. He was an amazing gardener and appreciated so much the island’s native and natural beauty. An excellent cook and gifted craftsman and carpenter, he enjoyed golfing with his friends, paddling, and his fishing when visiting family on the Mainland. He loved sports and was an avid UCLA fan and so loved a little feisty humor.
Sean’s island family of friends were an important part of his life, and he carried you all in his heart. During Sean and Marilyn’s marriage they had great fun traveling and he treasured those experiences as he did their home they built together in Princeville.
He was very patriotic; he loved our lively family reunions and being Uncle Sean, having a new great-nephew, laughing with his sisters and “Monday Night Football” and wagering with mom and Chris. Sean’s heart and kindness was his compass. He had such a generous spirit and a deep sense of compassion. One of his greatest joys was helping people, some of whom he didn’t even know personally, and never sought recognition for himself. His greatest wish for all of us was that we have love in our lives and have gratitude for that blessing.
A blessing and paddle out will be held at Hanalei Bay pier Saturday, Sept. 16. Friends are welcome to gather at 4 p.m. to celebrate Sean’s life.
