Taryn Taguma was unchallenged and fired an 86 to take the Girls 15-18 division at the annual Kauai Junior Golf Association Back to School Tournament at the Puakea Golf Course on Saturday.
The Girls 11-12 division saw Kiara Johnson rise to the top with a 99 over the efforts of Samantha Murphy (102) and Haley Arakaki (120).
Heiley Kikuchi topped the Girls 7-10 division with a 100, five strokes better than Rianna Chang.
On the boys’ course, Zachary Zawisny topped the Boys 15-18 division with an 80. Jaydon Kyono finished with a 92.
Luke de la Pena broke a tie with Niki Upson to win the Boys 13-14 division with a 91. Spencer Summerhays filled in the No. 3 spot with a 128.
Ryan Chang Jr’s 94 topped the Boys 11-12 division four strokes better than Carson Oyama who finished with a 98. Lucas Summerhays fired a 97 to capture top honors in the Boys 7-10 class over Noah de la Pena who finished with a 132.
The Kauai Junior Golf Association is taking applications for its KJGA Golf Fundraiser which will contest Oct. 22 on The Oceans Course at Hokuala. The deadline is Oct. 15 to register for the limited spots available in the contest which will play a two-person team modified scramble format (two-putt maximum).
Prizes include opportunities for rounds of golf, staycations, Closest to the Hole, Longest Drive, Hole in One, raffle prizes, and more.
Sponsorship packages are also available with a deadline of Oct. 13.
