ELEELE — More than a dozen Dow AgroSciences LLC volunteers began work Wednesday on a Kauai Habitat for Humanity home in the Eleee Iluna Subdivision, as part of the company’s 2017 commitment to Habitat.
“The sponsorship from Dow is tremendous. Commitment from longtime corporate partners like Dow offers critical funding and labor assistance while at the same time also providing an example for other companies,” said Kauai Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Stephen Spears. “Corporate partnerships are key to keeping home prices truly affordable on Kauai.”
Through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Dow provides product donations to Habitat homes in the U.S. and Canada, helping Habitat homeowners achieve greater energy efficiency in their homes.
“Dow was Habitat for Humanity International’s first corporate partner, in 1983,” said Peter Wiederoder, Dow site manager and Kauai Habitat for Humanity board president. “For 35 years, Dow has generously supported the construction or rehabilitation of more than 52,000 Habitat homes. We are proud to be able to support our local Habitat affiliate on Kauai through a partial house sponsorship of $10,000 and providing volunteer labor to get the job done safely and according to schedule.”
Dow engages in a holistic approach with Habitat, contributing not only funds and energy-saving insulation products, but also significant volunteer support.
Volunteers from Dow work on Habitat construction sites, serve as board members for Habitat organizations worldwide, and share their expertise in energy efficiency and conservation to assist Habitat in creating affordable, sustainable housing, according to a press release.
Dow’s support aligns with its 2025 sustainability goals and its global citizenship mission to help build sustainable communities by providing access to energy-efficient, affordable housing.
In 2017, Dow’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity International includes 42 projects in 19 countries, helping Habitat homeowners achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
