HAENA — The search for a missing California man in waters off Haena was suspended Monday morning following a three-day, multi-agency effort.
According to police, 46-year-old Perry Bagamaspad was reported missing by his wife Thursday night after he did not return from snorkeling. He was last seen on Thursday around noon snorkeling toward the open ocean at Makua Beach in Haena.
A team of rescuers including Kauai firefighters, police, lifeguards and the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a search of Makua Beach and the surrounding onshore and offshore areas.
By Sunday evening, Bagamaspad could not be located despite multiple air, land and sea-based searches.
Police do not suspect foul play in the man’s disappearance.
He is described at 5 feet 7 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing dark board shorts and a long sleeve gray rash guard.
Anyone with information of the man’s possible whereabouts is urged to call Kauai police at 241-1711 or Lt. Kenneth Cummings at 241-1686.
