KAPAA — Pink is the color of the day when the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital spearheads the Fifth annual Breast Cancer Walk from 9:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at Ke Ala Hele Makalae, the multi-use path, behind the Kapaa Neighborhood Center.
“We already have a good number of people joining us on this walk to celebrate life,” said Josie Pablo, Mahelona Hospital recreation director. “But we could use more people to help push the residents in wheelchairs. We want people to be part of this festive event. This is our fifth anniversay so it’s going to be even more special.”
Refreshments are provided by the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa with pink roses being provided by Safeway.
Kapaa High School JROTC, the National Honor Society, the Interact Club, and the Key Club are expected to be at the cancer walk.
Entertainment will include the Kapaa High School Band, Polynesian Musical Group and Ilima Rivera.
