Richard Sasan
Richard Sasan of Lihue passed away on Dec. 4, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 81. He was born in Lihue on March 28, 1936, and grew up in Lihue Camp. As a teenager he played in the barefoot plantation football league, and played high school football and basketball. He graduated from Kauai High School in 1954.
He served in the United States Air Force after high school and was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Liane Schoberl. Together they had four daughters.
He worked for the National Weather Service on Oahu and Kauai, under the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration as a Meteorologist Technician. In the early 70’s and 80’s he reported the weather on the local Kauai radio stations as “Dick Sasan.”
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was an excellent provider for his family. He was a man of character and strength and faced his challenges fearlessly. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Liane Sasan; parents, Timoteo and Francesca Generalao Sasan; sister, Lily Sasan; brother, Fred Sasan.
He leaves behind four daughters, Cookie Puahala (Darrel Jacobs), Sissy (Willie) Jerves, Tootsie Sasan (Leo Borrero) and Heidi Sasan (Bernard) Duarte; nine grandchildren Luana, Richard, Mokimana, Nikole, Samantha, Cheydon, Jessica, Dillon, and Madison; ten great grandchildren, Keaton, Leilani, Skylah, Raiden, Railah, Cheyley, Kayge, Avani, Tevah and Ryken.
He is survived by brothers, Jay (Diane) Sasan, William (Mary) Sasan; sisters, Josephine (Victor) Bigno and Lucille (Tony) Bargayo.
A memorial service will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue on Saturday, Dec. 30, with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and the memorial service at 9:45 a.m.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted.

Susan A. Linoz Butacan
Susan A. Linoz Butacan, 67 years old of Lihue, Kauai passed away on Nov. 26, 2017, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 14, 1950, in Lihue, Kauai.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dalmacio and Feliza Linoz; brother, Leonard Linoz; sister, Innocencia Linoz.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Renee Navarro) Linoz, Douglas (Pearl) Butacan; daughters, Roberta Linoz, Stephanie Rodrigues; grandchildren, Kaimana Navarro Linoz, Kawika Navarro Linoz, Kekoa Smith, Ashley Green, Scott Kaohelaulii; sisters, Linda Paza, Charleen (Glen) Ganeku, Theresa Kihano, Charmaine Duarte; brothers, Howard (Luz) Linoz, Derrick Linoz, John (Ruth) Linoz, Brandon Linoz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 11: a.m. at Koloa Neighborhood Center for Susan’s celebration of life.

Dorothy Tung Moi Chow Huddy, 99 years old of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on Dec. 17, 2017, at her home in Kapaa, Kauai. She was born on Dec. 12, 1918, in Niumalu, Kauai. She was a retired Cashier/Cook, Big Save gift shop and Olympic Café.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Huddy; parents, Yee and Shee Chow.
She is survived by her sons, Retired Judge Wendell K. Huddy of Oahu, Charles K. (Cynthia) Huddy of MA; daughter, Anne D.K. Huddy Crawford of Texas; grandchildren, Michael Huddy, Douglas (Rachel) Huddy, Terri Ann Crawford, Chad (Angel) Huddy Crawford; great-grandchildren, Haven and Caleb Crawford; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy Jean Wisneski 74, of Kekaha, Kauai, died Dec. 4, 2017, in Honolulu. She was born in Hana, Maui.
She was preceded in death by parents, Damiano and Elizabeth Lazaro; husband, Vincent J. Wisneski; brothers, Gundy Lazaro, Bla Lazaro, Paleka Lazaro; daughter, Cynthia (Perreira) Yamamoto; son, Robert Perreira; brother-in-law, Chico Frasco; sister-in-law, Caroline Hoopii, Ethel DelaCruz.

James Akina Makua, Jr. 65 years old of Eleele, Kauai passed away on Dec. 18, 2017, in Waimea, Kauai. She was born on Aug 3, 1952, in Oahu, Hawaii. James was a Tile Setter.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Akina Makua, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Marina Dureg Makua of Eleele; sons, Audie (Lisa) Dureg of CA, Billy Irving of Idaho; daughters, Jaimie (Victor) Perez of Texas, Julia Makua of Michigan, Melissa (Brian) Makua Edwards of Floria, Wanda Irving of Eleele; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; mother, Mie Morita of Honolulu; brother, Charles Mukua of Oahu; sisters, Judy (Thad) Lilly of Oahu, Doreen (Ethan) Takara of Oahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
