Kauai cut the 2-0 deficit with a goal by Dodger Middlebrook early in the second half, but the Menehune defense prevailed.
The Red Raider ladies picked up its second win over Waimea, 6-0, to ease the pain of its earlier defeat at the hands of Kapaa.
Chassidy Cantorna drew the first score in the opening six minutes, followed by Mia Takekuma scoring the first of her two goals in the 16th minute.
Kehela Ventura, whom game officials credit with several key assists, netted her own goal in the 24th minute followed five minutes later by Eryka Napoleon scoring.
Another Takekuma goal sealed the 5-0 lead at the break before Starlyn Soares’ goal at the 73rd minute sealed the win.
Kauai High School’s girls team next plays at Island School at 4 p.m. Friday. The varsity boys team will play 10 a.m. Saturday at Island.
Waimea will host the Kapaa Warriors at Hanapepe Stadium with the junior varsity teams taking the field from 10 a.m. The varsity boys open at 1:30 p.m. followed by the varsity girls starting at 3:30 p.m.
