Kudos to Russell Haluapo and all those motorcycle enthusiasts (Deann Yamaguchi even has her own private wine label) for getting all those toys that will be distributed by the Calvary Chapel North Shore Kauai during the annual Keiki Toy Run. Ron Garlie has been doing this for three generations already, and mahalo to Larry Feinstein for making sure everyone knew.

Jim Jung said JQ Smith couldn’t make the Kauai Veterans Council (congratulations, Stu Burley on being the new commandant!) Christmas party because he was busy collecting toys for Toys for Tots, and Kenny Ishii was there to enjoy some of the turkey.
Happy birthday to Jenni Andersen (U.S. Coast Guard Station Kauai Commander Michael Winiarski and the Nawiliwili crew had a special surprise), who will be 100 years old on Dec. 28, said Mary Kay Hertog. Jenni is not only the oldest living female veteran on Kauai, she’s the oldest SPAR on Kauai, the Coast Guard’s women reserves.
Hats off to the Mokihana Club (Jenni is one of their oldest members, too) for doing birthday celebrating during the club’s Christmas gathering where Gini Stoddard said they are helping the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School choir with some music and supplies.
OK, time to go check out Hanukkah — Stacie Chiba Miguel and Helaine Perel did a super job with the Keiki Christmas Bash — Santa Phil lost his voice after all those visits with keiki and singing with Mary Lardizabal and the Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band (they have their concert this evening at the school, too!). It starts when the sun goes down on the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula.
