Kudos to Lori Miller and her Kauai Hospice ohana on hosting its candlelighting gatherings, and mahalo to the Hawaiian Congregational Church in Hanapepe for opening its doors to the community. Sandi Sterker did a great job on the pu as well as filling in as hostess, and Ada Koene had a visitor from Beijing experiencing the gathering.

Ada is really in tune since she already knew the Kekaha Titan Junior Varsity cheer had taken gold at the National Pop Warner Cheer and Dance competition in Florida, and so sorry to Arnold Cruz, but the Kauai Interscholastic Federation girls basketball game (Lenny Rapozo said he loved all that running!) was already scheduled. Was Harvette Acosta and the Hanapepe Colts cheer squad able to overcome the snow delays in Georgia?
Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was scheduled to be at the airport (so was Council Chair Mel Rapozo, and Councilmember Arthur Brun couldn’t miss this) after congratulating Donna Friend on her new Anahola home (Alden Alayvilla and Pastor Larry Matsuwaki were stuck in that Friday traffic, and Kaulana Finn even brought along a video person for Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard) built by Kauai Habitat for Humanity.
OK, time to go check out Russell Haluapo and the Toys for Keiki motorcycle run, and Jack and Kaye Leonard with the Kauai Gymnastics Academy.
