LIHUE — The Garden Island Federal Credit Union, the Kauai Teachers Credit Union, combined with the merchants at the Kukui Grove Center to present the 24th annual Kauai Christmas Parade before an audience of several hundred people who braved the blustery weather at the mall.

Santa (in Paradise) had to dig out his biggest hat to keep it from blowing away in the wind and afternoon showers.
The parade provided a break from the hectic weekend shopping for Black Friday deals and also an opportunity for the shopping center merchants to earn recognition for its Small Business Saturday.
The parade also heralds the start of a calendar filled with holiday events which includes the launch of the holiday Lights Spectacular at 9 tonight near Longs Drugs.
