Toshie Daida
Toshie Daida, 97, of Koloa, passed away on Oct. 25, 2017, in Lihue.
Born on Jan. 2, 1920, in Japan, she retired as a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by husband Iwao Daida, parents Yashiro and Misu Oda, son Brian Daida and brother Robert Oda.
She is survived by son Gordon (Gerhild) Daida of Oahu, daughters Flora Farnbach of Oahu, Thelma (Ned Rose) Daida of Florida, Stella (John) Tippin of Oahu, Debra (Scott Yoshida) Daida of Oahu, Lonnie (Arthur) Oketani of Kauai, and Annetta (Kenneth) Isakson of New Jersey, 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Hanapepe Hongwanji Temple from 10 a.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Harvey Steven Garcia
Harvey Steven Garcia, 76, of Lawai, passed away on Nov. 3, 2017, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 8, 1941, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, he was retired from the U.S Air National Guard. He also was the founder and owner of Harvey’s Flooring.
He was preceded in death by wife Priscilla Garcia, parents Beatrice (Louis) Garcia and John Carvalho Garcia, and stepson Matthew Sakichi-Iwatate.
He is survived by wife Elsie Dusenberry Garcia of Lawai, sons Nelson (Margaret) Garcia of Omao, Leroy (Leimomi) Garcia of Omao and Russell (Cynthia) Garcia of Omao, hanai daughter Yasha (Marvin) Daoana of Omao, stepsons Nikola (Claudia) Nishi of Waimea, Pete Nishi of Oahu and Richard Iwatate of Makaweli, stepdaughters Donna (Mark Zenger) Richards of Lawai, Ama Nishi of Las Vegas, Marcella (Eric) Melchow of Las Vegas and Shamira Nitsche of Hanapepe, brothers-in-law Carl (Maureen) Dusenberry and Franklin Douglas (Linda) Dusenberry, both of Waimea Valley, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Nov. 17, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Mark Iwao Morita Sr.
Mark Iwao Morita Sr., 73, of Kapaa, passed away on Oct. 30, 2017, at his home in Kapaa.
Born on June 10, 1944 on Kauai, he retired as an electrician with Wasa Electrical Services Inc.
He was preceded in death by son Mark Iwao Morita Jr., parents Matao and Betty Morita, and sister Janice Setsuko Uejo.
He is survived by wife Danette Nuesca-Morita of Kapaa, daughter Annette “Keikilani” Palacio of Kapaa, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters Marion Tomomitsu of Oahu and Susan Mobley of Oahu, brother Russell Morita of Kauai, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Kapaa Hongwanji Temple from 9 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Akiyo Mori Honjo
Akiyo Mori Honjo of Wailua Houselots passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at the age of 103 years old. She was the oldest of 11 children. She attended Eleele School and was owner of Ma’s Family Restaurant, with her husband Masao Honjo, for over 40 years before closing her business January of 2007 at the age of 92. Since then, her daughter Amy has been her caregiver.
She was preceded in death by father Kiyoshi Mori and mother Hazue Kawaguchi Mori, and husband of 36 years, Masao Honjo.
Grandma Honjo, or just “Ma” as she liked to be called by her family and customers, is survived by two brothers and three sisters. She raised three children: Amy (Sueharu-deceased) Umakoshi, Herbert (Fay-deceased) Honjo and Harriet (Tsutao) Morioka. She has 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson.
The grandchildren are Derek (Rebekah) Umakoshi and sons Alex and Ian, Wesley (Sandra) Umakoshi and daughter Kristin, Terry (Kent) Ogomori and sons Kelsey and Korey, Alan (Shanna) Umakoshi and daughter Alanna, Mike (Sheri) Umakoshi and their daughters Rylee, Lara and Sachi, Tammie (Russell) Uyeda and their daughters Courtney, Lyndsey and Sydney, Mitzi (Wade) Yamamoto and their daughters Tobi Sibolboro and Tirah Yamamoto, Paige (Cleve) Javier and their children Drake and Grace, Naomi (Darren) Wakano and their children Dylan and Lacey, Mae (Darin) Asato and their children Brandon and Kaitlyn, and Danny (Julie) Morioka and their daughters Kylie and Sarah. Her great-great-grandson is Reegan Sibolboro.
She is also survived by the people who took care of her at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home, and especially Dr. Liliane Kheng who was Ma’s physician at Kuhio Medical Center, and the staff of Kuhio Medical Center, and Dr. Yee of Honolulu for the short time Ma was at Hale Kupuna. Ma died of natural causes and is beginning her new “GYO” in the spiritual world. We love you always.
Prayer services will be held at Tensho-Kotai-Jingu Kyo on Nov. 18, 2017, at 1 p.m. The family requests no flowers nor monetary gifts.

Daniel Gil Renti Cruz, 53, of Waianae, Oahu, passed away on Oct. 9, 2017.
He was born on June 15, 1964, in Lihue.
He was a supervisor for Kokua Villa Inc. at Waianae, a day-care facility for adults with intellectual disabilities.
He was preceded in death by wife Charlotte Idao Renti Cruz and father Dr. William A. Renti Cruz.
He is survived by mother Ercelly S. Renti Cruz, sisters Diana Honjiyo and Dena M. Renti Cruz, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Emilia Agcaoili Jacinto, 87, of Koloa, passed away on Oct. 26, 2017, at Wilcox Medical Center.
Born on Jan. 5, 1930, in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper at the Grant Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa.
She was preceded in death by husband Francisco Jacinto, parents Lucio and Prisca Agcaoili, brothers Claro, Florencio, Manuel, Vicente and Florentino Agcaoili, and sisters Angela Maltazo and Caridad Rivera.
She is survived by brothers Florendo and Leandro Agcaoili, sister Zenaida Ramos, sons Julius (Corazon) Jacinto and Rafael Jacinto, daughters Emelda (James) Benett, Ruby (Richard) Thomson, Mercedes (Robert) Davenport, Charito (Ramone-deceased) Abrigo and Junior Fernandico (Isidra) Jacinto, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Nov. 17, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa, from 8 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Raphael Church Cemetery.

Gloria Elizabeth Hashimoto
Gloria Elizabeth Hashimoto of Kapaa passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on Nov. 7, 2017, at the age of 92. She was born on Oahu on June 8, 1925, and retired as a clerical worker.
She was preceded in death by husband Shizuo Hashimoto, parents Edward and Annie Tom, brothers Jimmy, Edward, William, Richard, Fred, Harry and Larry, and sister Shirley.
She is survived by son Daniel T. Hashimoto of Kapaa, daughters Cynthia Swain of Kapaa and Pamel Daugherty of California, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Ednette (Don) Chandler of San Francisco, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.
