Flowers? Maile Bloxsom of Vicky’s Fabrics cleared the flowers from the middle of the bucket on Sunday so she could dip the test strip for dyeing with indigo during the Debbie Maddy (she’s an indigo master from Texas who got training from Japan, England, and the United States) Shibori Workshops that will continue through the week at the Kauai Society of Artists gallery (last week, Toni Wass had a bunch of sewing machine sewers working because the Shibori Workshops were pushed back a week. Toni said the space was already reserved, so they might as well use it for a sewing bee).

Following the Shibori Workshops, the KSA gallery will be hosting Kathy Kovala from the day after Tax Day (April 16) through April 18 before Kauai High School art instructor and artist Maryann Donagher brings the Kauai High Student Show to the gallery from April 19 through April 26. Artist Maryann, who works with Kauai Performing Arts Center instructor/coach Carla Kirk at the Downtown Lihue Night Market (it happens this Saturday from 4 p.m.), said the show features some excellent student art, including pieces that were part of the recent Raider Cafe open house.
Jenyffer Vieira of Hope Collective Church (they’re the ones in the Rice Shopping Center near Kauai Bowl) will be bringing back the “epic” Kauai Helicopter Egg Drop this Saturday at the Vidinha Stadium soccer fields. People wishing to participate in this free event with free food should get their parking by 9 a.m. for the egg drop at 9:30 a.m. (Pray for good weather!).
Then, it’s off to the Kukui Grove Spring Festival (hopefully, you’re pre-registered through the Kukui Grove Center website) for the free Easter goodies before they’re sold out that start at 10 a.m. on Saturday!
