Kumu Sabra Kauka and a representative of General Contractor Kaikor Construction Group of Oahu bless the repair work for the Koloa Bridge that was built in 1928 near Sueoka Store on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025. The project that involves repairing the Kipu Bridge as well is expected to start in March and run through November at at total cost of $1.9 million.

And who’s going to Read Across America on Sunday at the Kukui Grove Center?

Florilegium (the Kauai Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the National Tropical Botanical Garden to host a Business Pau Hana on March 20 to celebrate the Florilegium art exhibit) comes to the Kauai Society of Artists Spring Show as artist J Luzney has pieces in the style of botanical illustration. The KSA show opens Friday (from noon) and runs through March 21.
Malia Nobrega has been busy, so the Olelo Hawaii event, Olu Ka’ I, comes to Kukui Grove on Saturday from 10 a.m. (Have you ever seen a Konane tournament?). Cultural practitioners like Bradford Kaeo and her leathercraft, Kenneth Bray and his wood carving mokopuna, the winners of the Friday night speech competition at the Kauai Community College, and a lot more will be there.
Kudos to the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers who have been hosting many people needing to prepare their taxes prepared… “Woo Hoo! Free tax prep!” said a young person waiting at the Koloa Neighborhood Center, which debuted the service on Wednesday. Okay, we’re back at Hanapepe Public Library on Monday, the Lihue Neighborhood Center on Tuesday, the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on Wednesday, and the Kaumakani Neighborhood Center on Thursday. Every site starts at 9 a.m., first come, first served.
